Jail and

Communications

Leesville Police Department Dispatcher/Corrections officers use a computer-aided dispatch system. They receive both non-emergency and emergency calls for police assistance. They determine the nature and location of the calls; determine priorities, and dispatch police in accordance with established policy and procedures. Dispatchers monitor direct emergency alarms, maintain contact with all units on assignments, maintain status and location of police at all times. Dispatchers/Corrections Officers are responsible for monitoring several complex public safety radio frequencies, operating a variety of communications equipment; including radio consoles, telephones, and computer systems. They are also tasked with the care, custody, and control of all Leesville Jail inmates.
